Citrine

Citrine prepares your body, emotions, and mind to accept a greater flow of the yellow color ray. The yellow ray is the aspect of the life force that helps us release what no longer serves us and to accept what we need in order to move to the next higher state. This aspect of Citrine also has a greater overall purpose—to help you fulfill your spiritual potential by encouraging you to embrace ever-higher states of consciousness.

Citrine works to loosen blockages and increase flexibility through the wave-like motion characteristic of the yellow ray. A necklace of rounded Citrine crystals works gradually, one step at a time, to increase flexibility on a cellular level. This flexibility enhances the ability of the substances within a cell to move around as required—either within the cell or through the cell membrane. These substances can include the cell's organelles and fluids. Any intracellular processes that require movement are also enhanced and made more efficient.

If enough Citrine is worn over an adequate length of time, this flexibility will begin to extend beyond the cellular level to the organs and organ systems to which the cells belong. Most obvious will be Citrine's effect on the muscular system. After wearing a Citrine necklace for a while, you may find that you can stretch a little farther.

As a living organism, the body wants all its components to be in proper alignment. When any component is out of alignment, the flow of life force that keeps the body alive and gives it spiritual sustenance diminishes. As the body ages, it grows more and more out of alignment. Citrine can help the body—at any age—relax to the point where the life force can rush in, take hold, and move the physical body into a healthier state of alignment.

Citrine’s ability to loosen blockages and increase flexibility can be felt as a stirring or unwinding effect. This unwinding supports Citrine’s ability to move the body into greater alignment. When worn as a necklace, Citrine unwinds the entire body, especially the stomach chakra. If the stomach chakra is stuck or tightly shut, the Citrine will gently massage it and encourage it to open.

In someone with a yellow-ray deficiency, emotions are often out of balance. By providing yellow-ray nourishment, Citrine fosters awareness of one’s emotional center. Thus, Citrine can greatly benefit those who react in emotional extremes or whose emotional nature lacks balance.

The Sound of Citrine

Sound is just as integral a part of the life force as light. Thus, each color ray of the life force expresses a unique sound as well as a unique color. Citrine's crystalline matrix amplifies the sound of the yellow ray. Subtle sounds such as this are often difficult to hear amid the noises of daily living. If you wear Citrine continually, these sounds will become more audible. The more you listen to the sound of Citrine, the more your ears will be cleansed and the more clearly you will hear the subtle sounds of the universe.

Citrine and the Eliminatory System

Each of the seven color rays of the life force is particularly healing and nourishing to certain aspects of the physical body. The yellow ray nourishes and supports the organs of elimination, including the skin, bladder, urinary tract, kidneys, intestines, and eliminative aspects of the liver. Consequently, wearing Citrine can help strengthen these parts of the body and resolve certain conditions associated with them.

Citrine Rounded Chips vs. Spheres

Unlike most of the gemstones we offer, Citrine is most effective when worn as polished rounded chips instead of spheres. Citrine breaks up hardened energies and fixed states of consciousness. Although Citrine in spherical form produces this effect, rounded chips enhance it. A gemstone's energy radiates from a sphere in a perfectly regular fashion, while it escapes from a rounded chip in an irregular one. In the case of Citrine, this irregularity helps break up old states of consciousness, thus helping Citrine deliver its benefits more easily.

One of the most powerful and convenient ways to use a Citrine necklace is to wear it around your neck. There the gems will silently work for you as you go about your day. At night while you are sleeping, you can wear the necklace or keep it within three feet of your body to maintain your connection with the gems.  

Special Therapies

You can also use Citrine for more focused treatments. The simplest treatment is to place it on a specific area of your body to focus its healing energies there. For example, you can curl it up and place it on an ailing, injured, or painful area to accelerate the area’s recovery.

Increasing Citrine’s Effectiveness

In most cases, one necklace of Citrine works exclusively on a cellular level unless its effects are magnified in some way. The best way to magnify Citrine's effects is to wear a necklace of very high-quality Citrine or to wear additional Citrine—either by wearing a necklace with larger beads or by wearing a second or third necklace.

Time Guidelines

Citrine can be worn continuously. However, it is always wise to be sensitive to your body’s responses. If you start to feel a headache or significant discomfort, take the necklace off for a while. Then allow your body time to adjust to the changes initiated by the gems by wearing them for only an hour or two a day. Gradually increase this time until you can comfortably wear the gems for as long and often as you wish.

Cleanse Citrine Regularly

To maintain their effectiveness, therapeutic gemstones need regular care. As the gems help us release energetic impurities, some of these energies cling to the gems’ surface and inhibit their ability to work at their peak capacity. A simple energetic cleansing will clear these energies and restore the gems to their naturally vibrant state. You can use any of following methods to cleanse your Citrine necklace. Plant Rejuvenation: 2 – 3 times a week, wrap the necklace around the base of a healthy houseplant or lay the necklace in its branches.

Salt Bed: 2 – 3 times a week, lay the gems in a half-inch of salt for at least an hour or overnight.

Water Rinse: Rinse the gems daily for the first two weeks, then 2 – 3 times a week. Alternatively, you can place Citrine in snow to cleanse and enliven it.

Sunbath: Every 1 - 2 weeks, lay the gems in sunlight for a maximum of 5 minutes at a time.

Clay Cleanse: For deeper cleansing, occasionally perform a bentonite clay bath or pack.

The vast majority of commercial Citrine is actually lower-quality Amethyst that has been heated to turn the crystals yellow. Gemisphere’s handcrafted, near-flawless necklaces are true, natural Citrine with luminous yellow to golden-yellow color and without the brown tinge commonly seen in Citrine.

Therapeutic Quality Citrine

Only pure-yellow Citrine can draw the yellow ray to the body. The color of therapeutic Citrine ranges from light to deep yellow and sometimes possesses a golden glow. Very pale Citrine does not manifest yellow-ray energy strongly enough to produce therapeutic effects. Dark-amber or brownish Citrine can actually be detrimental, because it muddies the energy flow to the atoms, molecules, cells, and organs that are dependent on the yellow ray for life. Indeed, any degree of black or brown within Citrine is a toxic contaminant.

Internal flaws dull Citrine's appearance and diminish its ability to express the yellow ray. Slight surface flaws are acceptable, as are a very small number of internal cracks, but only if they occur in Citrine that is pure, bright yellow.
