Three Athena Potencies

Athena is available in three therapeutic potencies. The 24-inch Athena containing segments of three Green Tourmalines is the highest in potency. The 24-inch Athena containing segments of single Green Tourmalines is milder in potency. The 18-inch version, which overall has the fewest number of Green Tourmalines in segments of one each, is the mildest in potency.

Following Up with Other Gemstones

Here are some suggestions for therapeutic gemstone necklaces you may wish to wear as follow-ups to wearing an Athena necklace:

If your focus is on healing the physical body, an Athena necklace can often be followed well with a Dark Green Aventurine or Light Green Aventurine necklace.

If your focus is on uplifting your emotions, Carnelian follows well, as does Mother of Pearl for soothing and nurturing.

To integrate the Green Tourmaline energies of either an Athena or Mystic Warrior necklace, a solid necklace of Blue Lace Agate will follow well.

People with heart and cardiovascular conditions should generally use the Green Tourmaline combinations sparingly and follow them with either Agate or Light Green Aventurine.

Wear It Around Your Neck

The best way to use an Athena necklace is to wear it around your neck.  

Both men and women can wear an Athena necklace. Although it can be worn and enjoyed by most people, Athena should always be used with compassion, wisdom, and great care. The masculine fire embodied in Green Tourmaline is a powerful force, especially when the world is presenting itself as cold and dark. Yet this fire requires the tempered application of a seasoned being who knows how not to be careless or destructive with its force—who knows how to use it constructively and with consciousness.

Time Guidelines

Be careful to balance the use of Athena with periods of non-use. Initially, wear Athena for no more than a few hours at a time. Observe carefully and be sensitive to any signs of physical, emotional, or mental discomfort. If you observe any of these signs, it means you need more time to absorb these energies. Try wearing the necklace for shorter periods.

The Green Tourmaline in Athena embodies the energies of masculine strength, force, and intensity. Different bodies and temperaments will experience these energies differently. Athena was designed in a variety of potencies to meet individuals’ needs and temperaments. (See “Three Athena Potencies” in the Benefits tab.)

No matter which Noble Warrior necklace you use—Athena or Mystic Warrior—allow the process to unfold slowly. Each individual will be able to incorporate new strengths at different speeds. You do not ask someone who has been living a sedentary life to wake up one day and run a triathlon or climb Mount Everest. Success will not be gained that way. Have patience. Go slowly. Build your capacity carefully but thoroughly. Green Tourmaline helps those with goals they wish to achieve.

Until now, because of Green Tourmaline’s intense power and masculine energy, solid necklaces of this gem have been used mostly by men and usually only for brief periods. Athena’s design allows both men and women to use it regularly. Athena and Mystic Warrior are for people who could use the support of strength, focus, intensity, and committed discipline as they are striving to advance toward any kind of achievement.

Generally speaking, women will find their needs for this energy met more quickly—often by wearing an Athena necklace for just a few hours over the course of a few days each month.

Men may require longer and more sustained periods of wearing an Athena necklace. If you are in a male body, there is more to absorb and master from the lessons of Green Tourmaline. Male bodies must find a dynamic equilibrium between “force” and “allowing,” and between being “active” and “passive.” Women generally find the lessons of temperance easier to comprehend and integrate.

Cleanse Athena Regularly

To maintain their effectiveness, therapeutic gemstones need regular care. As the gems help us release energetic impurities, some of these energies cling to the gems’ surface and inhibit their ability to work at their peak capacity. A simple energetic cleansing will clear these energies and restore the gems to their naturally vibrant state. You can use any of following methods to cleanse your Athena necklace. Learn more about these methods.

Plant Rejuvenation: At least 2 – 3 times a week, wrap the necklace around the base of a healthy houseplant or lay the necklace in its branches.

Salt Bed: At least 2 – 3 times a week, lay the gems in a half-inch of salt for at least an hour or overnight. Place a thin natural-fiber cloth between the salt and the gems.

Water Rinse: Rinse the gems daily with some mild natural soap for the first two weeks, then at least 2 – 3 times a week.

Special Notes:

Although wearing White Flash Moonstone in sunlight will do it no harm, cleansing it in sunlight is not recommended. If your Athena necklace is exposed to direct sunlight while you are not wearing it, to replenish it place it outside on the ground under dense foliage and cover it with a cloth to protect it further from the sunshine, or lay it on the ground at night. Leave it there for at least an hour.

Avoid clay cleansing, which will dull the Green Tourmaline’s polish.

Therapeutic Quality Athena

Athena contains therapeutic quality Green Tourmaline, Blue Lace Agate, and White Flash Moonstone.

Green Tourmaline

Green Tourmaline’s natural color varies from olive- to emerald-green, in shades that range from light to medium-dark. Green Tourmaline that is dull, cloudy, or not true in color is non-therapeutic. Therapeutic quality Green Tourmaline is relatively free of inclusions and is radiant in appearance.

Our Green Tourmaline Necklaces Our therapeutic Green Tourmaline necklaces are made with Green Tourmaline rounded chips that have been cut from high quality crystals usually reserved for making faceted gems. Consequently, we offer the highest quality therapeutic Green Tourmaline necklaces available anywhere.

Consistency is an important factor in creating a Green Tourmaline necklace with a potent and harmonious energetic signature. Therefore, to make each necklace, we carefully match chips for color, clarity, shape, and size. Thus, each Green Tourmaline necklace is unique, and all are individually priced based on their total carat weight and quality.

For most gemstones, the therapeutic quality categories defined as Quality 1, 2, 3, 4,  etc., suffice to describe the quality of the gems in a particular necklace. However, for a handful of gemstones, gradients of quality exist within each therapeutic quality category. Green Tourmaline is one of these gemstones. This means that a particular Green Tourmaline necklace may be somewhat higher or lower in quality than the other necklaces in the same category. These variations are reflected in the price per carat of each necklace.

Blue Lace Agate

Therapeutic Blue Lace Agate has a rich, translucent lavender-blue color. When cut into spheres, it displays distinct and somewhat wavy bands that range from lavender to white in color. It has no patches or spots of black or other colors.

Most important is that the spheres in a necklace are drilled so that the drill holes generally run perpendicular to the bands. All of Gemisphere's Blue Lace Agate spheres are drilled this way. Most manufacturers drill Blue Lace Agate beads haphazardly. When worn as a necklace, this unevenly drilled Blue Lace Agate can disrupt the aura by scattering the wearer's energies. These scattered energies are particularly stressful and irritating to the nervous and endocrine systems.

White Flash Moonstone

Therapeutic quality White Flash Moonstone is milky-white and can vary in its degree of translucency. Therapeutic Moonstone displays an optical quality called adularescence—that is, a shimmery flash of white or, in very rare cases, blue. Almost every bead in a therapeutic Moonstone necklace should have a distinct flash. The more surface area the flash covers, the more potent the gem is. For the best view of its flash, hold your Moonstone in sunlight.

Cracks and inclusions hinder Moonstone’s effectiveness and should be either absent or very minimal. Black or other colored opaque spots void Moonstone’s energy in an area many times the size of the spot itself. A necklace with many spots might even be harmful to the wearer’s supraphysical fabric.
